Apple has introduced the new Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. Many rumours about the Apple Watch Series 6 have been proven to be true, so the event didn't reveal any big news about the Apple Watch.
Apple Watch Series 9
The Apple Watch Series 9 is an updated version of its predecessor, the Series 8, with many new features added. It has the new Apple S9 chipset. As for the new dual-core chip that it includes, Apple claims that it is 20% faster than the S5 of the Apple Watch Series 8. It also integrates a U1 chip whose ultra-wideband antennas enable short-range wireless location. With this feature, you can use your Watch Series 6 as digital car keys.
The Watch Series 9 uses the same chassis as the Watch Series 8, but has a blue and red aluminium finish. There are two stainless steel versions of the Watch Series 9, graphite and classic yellow gold.
The Watch Series 9 has a new bottom-mounted heart rate sensor that can also measure blood oxygen content (SpO2). WatchOS 8 provides a VO2 Max reading from the user's heart rate and movement data, showing the user's overall fitness level.
The Watch Series 9 can track the wearer's sleep. It can detect hand washing and provides data on various types of exercise. The new and improved Always on Display mode on Watch Series 9 is nearly two and a half times brighter than before.
Apple has also added a new altimeter to it. The battery time of the Watch Series 9 is also about 18 hours like the Watch Series 5, while with fast charging support, it fully charges in about an hour and a half. Pre-orders for Watch Series 9 have begun, while deliveries will begin on Friday, September 18.
Their GPS-only aluminium model starts at $399 (40mm size)
and $429 (44mm size). The GPS and cellular versions are priced at $499 and
$529, respectively. The stainless steel model costs more.
Apple Watch SE
Apple has also introduced the more affordable Apple Watch SE. It shares the Series 8's design, heart rate monitor, and chipset, but has the Series 6's always-on accelerometer, gyroscope, and altimeter.
The sensors of the Apple Watch SE detect even a slight difference in the height of the watch of a foot. Apple Watch SE pre-orders have also started. Its delivery will also start from Friday.
It starts at $279 for the 40mm model and $309 for the 44mm model. The
price goes up to $329 and $359 for the cellular connectivity option. Apple will
continue to sell its Watch Series 3 for now. Their 38mm model is $199 and the
42mm model is $229.
